Recently I ran across another post about the latest church based TV show: Preachers of L.A. I have to say, in my opinion, this is yet another disgusting exhibition of religious hypocrisy. Not only is the show sending the wrong message to people, religious or not, Christian or non, it’s the epitome of false prophesy. Each preacher of LA represents the letter mentioned in the bible. The question is, are these preacher’s letters worthy of reading?
3:1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? 2 You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. 3 And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Specifically Deitrick Haddon? Now you may wonder why I singled Rev. Haddon out, so let me tell you why. Just today I ran across a post in Cross Map on him, sharing his story about why and how he came to be a part of Preachers of LA. After reading his story I found it almost impossible to detect the love of God as his reason for doing the reality show. After all, the man talks about being tested when he was going through his divorce and having a baby out-of-wedlock as if he was going through some type of spiritual epiphany. Really Rev. Haddon?
Additionally, on today too, another post on a different site,”IPost” popped up about him. This one was about naked photos of Haddon, revealed by Funky Dineva, who said he got them from a woman named Simone, who cheated with Rev Haddon, in 2008 on his first wife. Haddon is now married to Dominique, another woman and mother of his illegitimate child. With all this mess going on in the life of Haddon, I can’t help but wonder how he and his followers think God called him to do this reality church show, because of his new-found wisdom, love for the Lord , humility and unshakable faith, and not because he needs to be exposed for pimping in the name of the Lord. And by no means is he alone. I just don’t know enough about the other preachers of LA’s reputations, other than that they too love money, the root of all evil.
Haddon says “God told him to share his testimony about his failed marriage, by doing a reality show on preachers.” Do you believe this…I don’t! At any rate to make this alleged directive a reality, Haddon says he called his manager Holly Carter, at Releve’ Entertainment and they agreed to do a show. Reading the story provokes me to ask “where’s the beef.”
God doesn’t send people to do his will half-cocked, as in ….putting you in a show that offers viewers nothing spiritually tangible, instead you get a story about destroying his marriage, cheating on his wife and worshiping idols. Forget the story already, what about the lesson from God? Was Haddon not able to save his marriage by any means, or did he not want to?
He’s married again, so of course we want to know if he married the woman he cheated on his wife with? And we now know the answer to that question is no, so the next question is why not? You risk losing your wife for this woman but you left her hanging to? Enough already; where is God in all of this? Bottom line what is the mission or purpose of Preacher’s of LA?
The tragedy here is that most people who join and stay in churches led by preachers who promote worldly prosperity will be impressed and thrilled by this TV show and a boatload of others like it. You don’t have to be a Christian to see that none of this “showboating” has anything to do with God or with how real Christians behave and live.
There is no excuse.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen. Being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead: so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20
16.For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe in him stands condemned already because they have not believed in God’s one and only Son. 19. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21. But whoever lives by the truth comes into light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done have been done in the sight of God. John 2:3 16-21
Some Christians are calling to have the show cancelled, but I don’t understand why? In fact, I want to know the truth about what’s really going on in some churches today, good and bad. Even where church affairs are concerned, knowledge is power. The more we know the better equipped we’ll be, to call out false prophets. While calling them out won’t stamp out religious predators, it will open the eyes of some, who find themselves treading on thin ice, but still believe and read God’s Word. Seeing religious leaders not living the life they preach about could encourage the masses to stand up for Jesus by doing the right thing.
What breaks my heart about all the hooplah going on in some churches, is the fact that so many religious leaders find time to do everything under the sun, but serve the people God assigned them to save. The last time I read the bible, not visiting prisoners, not helping the sick, poor and or spiritually deficient was not an option for Christians. Christians are what the Doctor ordered to do his will. Though the task seems monumental, God expects us to get to work just the same. To carry out God’s will you must know your purpose and purposely plan to carry it out.
2 Corinthians 3
To witness religious leaders showering themselves in riches, while their congregations live from paycheck to paycheck is buffoonery, both on the part of church members who promote and finance this charade and on religious leaders who engage in idol worship. Do they not know the price for worshiping idols, or do they no longer care? Is it really that good; that salvation would take second place?
You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40. yet you refuse to come to me to have life. 41. “I do not accept glory from humans, 42. but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43. I have come in my father’s name, and you do not accept me: but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44. How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God. John 5: 39-44
While this twist from acknowledging and obeying God’s Word started long before church based TV programming hit air waves, it seems that today it’s spun out of control. How do these church members watch their leaders profane the Lord, go back to the church and manage to keep a straight face is beyond me. Does anybody else but me have a problem with blatant religious hypocrisy?
